It was hot and sunny here in Atlanta so I decided to spend the day at the Georgia Aquarium – and so did everybody else in the city. Hahaha. It was packed with both visitors and Atlantans.
A few trivia about the Georgia Aquarium:
- Georgia Aquarium is the world's largest aquarium with more than 8.5 million US gallons (31,000 m³) of marine and fresh water housing more than 120,000 animals of 500 different species.
- The aquarium's notable specimens include four young whale sharks, four beluga whales, and four manta rays.
- There are more than 61 miles of pipes and wires in the Georgia Aquarium. That’s just about the same as the entire length of I-285. Wow!
I wasn’t really planning on going to the Aquarium since I thought it would just be like the other aquariums I’ve been to. But my officemate Corey told me that I should go because it’s pretty cool – and I can say, it’s really cool! In my opinion, it’s the next best thing to SeaWorld in Orlando. Oh wait, SeaWorld is considered a theme park so that makes Georgia Aquarium the best aquarium I’ve been to! Ha-ha. I also went to the Dolphin Tales Show and it was really good – a spectacular show of music, light and dolphins. I was just really amazed of how Dolphins are very smart creatures – the timing is perfect; the dolphins show up on the exact spot the light is on. Normally, dolphin shows are held on a well-lit pool, but this one is held in a very dark auditorium and the dolphins have to be on the exact spot at a particular time – to go with the light effects. In short, I was simply amazed just like the kid sitting behind me. Hahaha.
Just some pictures of my visit to the aquarium. I didn't get many good shots, I think I lack practice.
